That list is straight from Microsoft! I even linked to it!

The list is posted under:

Direct3D 11.1 Features (Windows)

The core of the API has been rewritten ? It's not a minor update despite being called DX 11.1 ? Despite the fact that there is no substantial advantage for Windows gamers ? I'm surprised they are not calling it DX 12. rolleyes.gif

I don't care what it means for developers, for Windows gamers in general there are no meaningful features, that was my point, stop talking about developers, you start to sound like someone oddly familiar.

Here's an article that used different testing methods that lead to I think the most conclusive Win7 vs Win8 comparison out there:

http://www.hardcoreware.net/windows-7-vs-windows-8-performance/

In particular note the AMD performance gain in BF3:

gaming-bf3-frametimes-amd.png

(frames per second is identical as we've seen before, but this shows us that there is a difference which is why some people have noticed that games do run smoother in Win8) Good news for AMD users, it looks like!

I would LOVE to see you prove this statement. And by "rewritten", I'm not talking "it all depends on what your definition of 'is' is". I'm talking what real programmers (you know, like you and me and many others here) mean by a "rewrite" ... and just not ADDING TO and TWEAKING ... but a "File, New, start typing" rewrite.

The scheduler to the API is threaded now, not much more needs to be explained there. In any kind of programming "rewriting" something is not effectively truncating it, and obviously rewriting it (you do not start with a new blank project). Most of the calls aren't being changed, they are just being pushed later on possibly in a new thread or other places. To give you a friendly understanding of what rewriting code looks like see below.
Code:
#include <iostream>

using namespace std;

void main()
{
    cout << "Hello World!" << endl;   cout << "Welcome to OCN" << endl;
}

Effectively "rewriting" that could result in.
Code:
#include <string>
#include <iostream>
#include <thread>

using namespace std;

void task1(string msg)
{
    cout << msg << " World!" << endl;   cout << "Welcome to OCN" << endl;
}

int main()
{
    thread t1(task1, "Hello");
    t1.join();
}

Being the entire existing source doesn't have to be changed, to accommodate for what is being rewritten. I don't want to go into details about exactly how much more complex it is to thread an application (pipes, shared memory, etc). Tho I can tell you core parts of the API has been rewritten to logically accommodate the new features of the API. You wouldn't say that your computer can max out Crysis without effectively knowing its boosting top of the line hardware under the hood. It's like saying the left shoe goes on the left foot. As for showing you, I can't physically show you as its against the law and OCN rules. Tho I doubt you will see any significant frame rate gains from these improvements, they are there to aid in smoothing out gameplay and improve response time of the Windows 8 platform (quite a bit is accelerated through DirectX on Windows 8).

The person who makes the positive assertion, ie Warmonger, has asserted that Microsoft has rewritten the core. It is beholden on HIM to back up his assertion.

I was asking for you to shed some light on it because it appeared that you seemed to have known something however at least the other guy helped a bit.
Thanks.

So on that note, is anyone able to shed some light on what microsoft did and did not do to DX 11.1?
