I find it ironic that you blast people who don't like Metro, then pretty much ignore the actual topic at hand (Gaming in Windows 8 vs Windows 7), which IS frame rates, then pretty much end you comment with "I like better now". Fact of the matter is, if you want to remove the personal preference from either side, the fact remains that "by the numbers", Windows 8 isn't really all that much better (and sometimes worse) than Windows 7 for gaming.
Faster frame rate <> smoother gameplay. And are you going to answer my previous post?

for one, I didn't blast anyone for disliking metro, preference is preference. In the end, under normal circumstances, it is faster to find an open a variety of programs with a Start Screen than with a Start Menu, but if you don't like it, than nothing wrong with that. What I do see too much of is people saying Windows 8 is a failure mainly because of metro. Now as far as gaming is concerned, it's pretty much a tie, leaning in Win7's favor by maybe a few frames. A finished product, with a Service pack under it's belt, and most games being designed to work with it won. This is not shocking at all, Win8 is pretty fresh, and I would hope that with time we see improvements. As I stated before, on almost everything else, Windows 8 beats Win7 hands down. If you want to stay with Win7 to keep 3fps in a couple games and because you don't like metro.. and not gain a HUGE improvement in start-up time, and decent sized gains in overall system speed.. preference i suppose.

Why is this thread not getting more attention? The article shows perfectly how much better Windows 8 is.

Windows 8 haters aren't going to bump a thread that portrays Windows 8 in a positive light, so they would try to keep their discussions out of it.

Edit: Not to mention, I think most people are just tired of arguing about the UI at this point in time.

Uh, I'm reading those benchmarks and for the most part it's relatively equal? W8 is way faster in some ways, but W7 is too (For example, some of the Video Downscaling, Arkham City, etc) and some of those benchmarks are crap..How many pages can be rendered at once? I tend to load a lot of tabs and going from their numbers even an i3 would probably be enough for me for that, I'd also prefer to see real world stuff and not PCMark.

The key point for gaming is the frame times. It's more consistent on Windows 8 with the occasional exception that can most likely be attributed to drivers. As for CPU dependent tasks, I do think that there really is minimal, if any, difference.

Seem like a decent improvement, but imo nothing so earth-shattering that I have to buy now instead of waiting for SP1 and driver maturity.

Yeah, W8 would be smoother but honestly at this point it'd be difficult to even notice it.
