Just this week Apple lost $368.2 million to VirnetX and $21 million to Swiss Rail.

I have owed every iPhone except the iPhone 5. I don't hate apple I'm just pointing out that their actions are becoming very childish. They sue Samsung which supplies 30% of the parts for their biggest product line. They point out all the people who copy things they do. Then they copy someone else and pay there way out of it. Meanwhile to gain more attention they send a small some of 2.5 million dollars to Storm victims just to get there name out their during the tragedy. I like Apple products better than Samsung I don't really own to many Samsung products. But its pretty sad how they are acting. If I buy from a company that has a great product I expect them to stand to competitors like Man would in a sporting event may the best man win. Know one wants to cheer for the team that is spoiled and wins by decision in court or wins because the have the most money. That's not what free market is about. Make a better product. Stop holding back advancements to gouge your customers for more money. If you make the best product you will end on top. They are deliberately holding back features to gauge customers and trying to pin down competition in court so they can keep the market moving at there own comfortable pace. Anyone here on OCN should feel the same way as to distain such a thing.

This is appalling. I mean who doesn't know what the Swiss railway clocks look like? Whats next? Will this be the new Apple logo?

Lol. $21m is nothing to Apple, I'd hardly call it justice. It's not going to stop them from infringing other designs in the future.

How is this karma? Companies get smacked with these types of fines everyday of the week it just goes unnoticed, but since this is Apple, as I have noticed on this forum, everything bad about them gets reported.

She said at the time that SBB was more interested in bringing clarity to where and how Apple could use the logo than in raking in cash.

"We're rather proud that a brand as important as Apple is using our design," she said in September.

Whats wrong with you people? Anything to defend Apple I guess... I dunny, they could, like, make their own simple clock logo for 2 cents and NOT pass on any unneeded cost to consumers... If they are wasting tens of millions on stupid crap like a clock, imagine what else is overpriced heh.

Not sure if this post was serious heh. But to defend a $21 million clock design... thats in no way original or amazing... seems... silly? They could have made a few minor changes that would have made it just as nice and elegant... at the cost of, I dunno, a few cents?

seems like a lot of money for a clock. why not just design a similar minimalist type clock? i doubt it would cost 21M.
i wouldnt think badly of something like this with some tweaks (square off the arms and change the face colour/texture). its even got those nice rounded corners they like so much tongue.gif
the_minimalist_clock_icon_psd_layered_176864.jpg

But that would only cost $21, not $21 million. All Apple things need to be amazing and trendy. It has to say, look at me, I'm rich and important lol.

Very much so. And this thread made for some good laughs. I knew people were blinded by their "loyalty" to a company, but sometimes it goes so far I can't even understand how they rationalize such things...

Piece of tape in a budget device "Burn this cheap POS with fire!!!"
$21 million for a clock design, amazing! It's only $21 million, look how nice those minute hands look, wow, so elegant!" *Sits watching analog clock for hours, in awe of the beauty*

I don't feel bad for Apple, because they sue for the same stupid reasons, but this is still quite ridiculous.
