Hey guys i THINK i found a good deal on a HP EliteBook 8540p the laptop its self is brand new and still has the full three year service plan on it!

the specs are as follows

core i5 @2.66ghz
8gigs of ram(DDR3)
260 GIG SSD (room for another (HDD)
NVIDIA NVS 5100M 1 gig

I plan on using it to play some games and school work. (games like BF3 planetside2 tf2 league of legends and other free toplay fps games.

now the price i would be paying for all of this is 500$ CAD flat is it worth it? Thanks

So anyone know if this would be a good buy? not much of a HP person myself and just looking for others oppion
post #3 of 7
The video card is a Nividia Quadro with the equivalent of a GT 330M which isnt the greatest thing but should do lowest setting on BF3 and Planetside 2 once its optimized.

Solid deal though. Unsure of battery life on that line of laptop but the if you don't really care for that.

Would you know if the Card is able to be swaped out? and what card i can swap it for?

as well this would be a upgrade from a 7 year old dell insprion 9400 so am i expecting a big change in terms of gaming?
The GPU is more than likely incapable of being upgraded. Odds are that it's either built into the motherboard or the GPU uses a proprietary slot that most manufacturers used up until the end of 2010. Even my old Toshiba Qosmio used that kind of slot and I bought that at the very end of 2010 believe it or not. o.O

GTX 460M and everything. ._.

Okay but for 500 can i get somthing better then this? The three years of on site service should be noted
post #7 of 7
It's doubtful that you can get anything better than that for the price range. You might be able to snag a used machine for the same price. But nothing new...
