Is this build compatible

Thread Starter
I'm building a new pc soon and I would like to know if these parts are good and if i am missing anything. I had an entirely new build in mind but I ended up changing a variety of components. Here it is.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K Boxed 3.4GHz

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V Pro Intel Z77 LGA1155

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 240-Pin

GPU: MSI twin Frozr Ati Radeon 7950(I have to change the 7950 to a gtx660ti)

SSD: Samsung 128GB 830 Series Solid State Drive (SSD)

PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series™ TX650M High Performance 650W Power Supply

Optical Drive: LG OEM DVDRW 24X Int

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit Operating System (OEM/System Builder Version)

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Or HAF 922

Cooling: Stock heatsink for now.

Total cost:$1200

EDIT: I just realized that I am a bit over my budget so I have to change the 7950 to a gtx660ti. I'm really trying to keep it at the $1200 limit and even if it is a $20 upgrade, I don't really wanna go over the budget.

Yes they are all compatible. Some advice: Get a secondary HDD, a P8Z77-V LK, and a CPU cooler, like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

yeah everything is compatible. I'm sure you will like the build quite a bit when you're done
post #4 of 16
I'm assuming your going with microcenter because they like to say "boxed" processor. That build actually looks really balanced and great. If you don't plan on crossfiring however bump the power supply down a notch. Anywhere from 550-600W should be plenty. thumb.gif

If you don't mind me asking though, is this to replace your current sig rig? I honestly don't see the purpose here because your current rig is pretty cool. Unless this is for someone you know.

I'm actually going with fry's. I have one that is only 15 minutes away so I figured if something goes wrong, I can instantly return the unit instead of waiting like you would for newegg. if the store does not have all the parts I need then yeah, I'll go with newegg

Also, no. The current sig is what I wanted to build but like I said, I changed a few components.

Yeah everything looks good, but i would suggest a better cpu cooler, I don't think you will be very happy with the stock one. Also, you will most likely fill up that ssd very quickly. I just built my first computer with only a 256gb 830 series ssd and i only have 60gb left after all my games and os.

Just out of curiosity... Which one is the better build between the one that I listed and the one I have as my current rig

Yeah, would get a secondary HDD, just for storage. 500GB - 1TB would be fine, then use your 830 as boot. Other than that, and a better cpu cooler if you want to overclock, everything looks good.

Not a great MoBo selection, I'd go with something like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/njay

Why don't you just upgrade your current build? :S
