Money ain't a problem? 680 Lightning or 7970 Matrix Platinum. I seriously recommend the latter thumb.gif

600 dollars?... man, its a waste, even for a 680, you really want the best of the best?
whats your current gpu? (you have alot of sig rigs, so i dont know which one is the relevant one)

Well the best GTX 680 is the GTX 680 MSI Lightning 2GB being sold for $499.99 with $20 rebate card $8.89 shipping = $496.98 total. Hell of an over clocker and over voltage.

If your planning on multiple monitors then your best option for leaving the door open nicely and SLI perhaps by next year would be to go with EVGA GTX 680 4GB with backplate $519.99 with $20 rebate card $7.56 shipping = $507.55 total.

Edited to add: No longer $600 cards. In fact prices on reference 680's are now $470 and dropping slowly. Last week you could pick up an MSI GTX 680 reference for $450 free shipping. Watch for sales periodically.

I myself am an pro-Nvidia person, but I do admit that ATI is catching up. Nvidia cards have a tendency to last a really, really, really long time, even under constant load. Their construction is top of the line (and if it breaks, you get another one for free, warantees ftw). My GTX 480 is still top of the line, BF3 on max (80-120 fps, Overclocked of course). What the Nvidia cards have that ATIs don't have, is PhysX. ATI cards just do not have the same efficiency while playing PhysX enabled games as Nvidia cards do, mostly because Nvidias were built for PhysX. ATI cards have raw power in what they lack efficiency.

It's similar to CPUs, AMD's have great power and overclock potential, but they simply lack the efficiency of an Intel CPU which is what separates them. ATI cards are good, but Nvidia cards will generally last longer and outperform on PhysX based games. On a side note, I would prefer a single GPU over a multi-GPU anyday, I just don't want to deal with micro-stutter.

One major pro of an ATI would be it's price, as you can see, its tons lower than an Nvidia. That in itself is enough to consider buying an ATI over an Nvidia.

EDIT: So what I'm saying is that, if you have the money, go Nvidia, if you don't go ATI. Simple as that.

Moved the topic 'Best GTX 680 under $600?" question to proper Nvidia section.

I am more than pleased with the performance especially running triple monitors and not skipping a beat, I would highly recommend it.
i bought this exact card as well. i am intrigued by the msi lightning card, and if i end up doing sli, i think the gtx 680 lightning would be my choice to pair with my evga superclocked. is that okay? or should i stick with the same exact gtx 680 cards for sli?

ya i've been watching the market and seeing the price of them drop about 10 cents a week on amazon. Im probably gonna go with the EVGA 4g model for future SLI. but how close would you say the 700 series are to being released? next fall perhaps? if so i would be fine waiting until then if they have the new GK chips.

I'd go with the exact same cards. I mixed a reference 680 with a 680 sc and had some funky issues, ended up flashing the sc down to reference. Also the lightning has a cooler that looks completely different, it would look all sorts of weird thumb.gif
