Need advice on Cherry MX Brown back lit full mechanical keyboard $150>

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new mechanical keyboard (coming from G15v2) under $150.

I need a Cherry MX Brown because I'm not a hardcore gamer nor a serious typist (I do want a quiet keyboard). I think that 6KRO will be enough for me.

So far I have two options in mind, the Ducky Shine II DK9008S2 and the CM Storm Trigger.

The CM have a great price, so I tempted to just go for it.

What do you think ? Is the CM good bargain ?

Thanks

I would personally recommend the Ducky, that's just because i prefer that type of KB - clean, minimalistic.
The only downside i see to the trigger is the lack of PS2 support, therefore limiting to only 6NKRO, however you said you wouldn't mind. At the end of the day, it really comes down to preference, the trigger is a decent mechanical board. If you want to save money, go with that one, if you want to feel the price of the ducky, go there.

What about the CM Storm QuickFire Pro ? How is it compare to the Trigger ?

Does it have a full back lit ?

Any other good options ?

Thanks

Did you check out this one: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-nighthawk-x8-blue-backlit-mechanical-keyboard.html

I'm getting one today, and I'm also having a G15v2 wich will be replaced by the Nighthawk X8! ^^

I did read some reviews on it, and AFAIU its built quality is not as good as the keyboards mentioned above.

Are you sure that you aren't confusing it with the Xarmor U9BL? The Nighthawk X8 looks identical externally, but the internal components are completely different - at least that's what I discovered during my research before buying an X8. My personal experience with the X8 has confirmed so far what I read during my research. I've heard plenty of good things about the Ducky as well, so I don't think you have to worry about build quality from either.

One thing that you might want to consider with the CM Storm - the secondary functions on the keys are not backlit (i.e. the symbols on the number keys or the punctuation keys). This may not bother you, but I've seen friends get backlit keyboards without the secondary function backlighting, and they considered it a serious drawback. YMMV.

In any case you should at least add the X8 to your list for consideration - unless you've discovered something about it that I completely missed. tongue.gif
