2500k cpu won't clock down at idle

I have been running a 4.8ghz overclock on my cpu for the last 6 months or so and have recently upgraded to windows 8. It's an offset voltage overclock, so it will normally clock down to 1.6ghz at idle, and lower the voltage accordingly. However, since the windows 8 switch, it stays at 4.8ghz with 1.36V constantly even though cpu usage is under 4%. Speedstep is enabled. I haven't changed anything in the bios.

I didn't think the operating system would affect the overclock like this. Anyone else experience this? Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

I saw some other people with the same problem on a different forum, but I don't think anyone had the answer. Did you make sure you have a balanced power profile set? Maybe Win 8 defaults to a higher performance one.

Does Win8 have settings for power savings maybe? Maybe it's set to max performance?

If your profile is set to performance it won't downclock, unless you change the setting in the performance profile.
If you want your voltages to downclock with your frequency you need to set up your overclock with offset voltages, & this is where it gets tricky,
