1080p/60 3D via HDMI?

Long story short, is this possible with any ATI GPU?
An old article from late 2011 that said the 7970 was supposed to have what ATI calls Fast HDMI but couldn't dig up anything recent stating yay or nay. Makes me wonder.
It's not one of the obligatory HDMI 1.4a formats so.. oh well, does it work?

I think it's that new AMD cards can support the higher 340MHz pixel clock needed for sequential 3D (1080/60Hz per eye) over single link HDMI but there aren't any receiving devices (monitors) that can. They currently all operate HDMI (Single link) at a lower pixel clock rate (really we're stuck at the HDMI 1.0 rate of 165MHz pixel clock), new receiving devices that can fully support the maximum pixel clock specification aren't expected until next year. You can "claim" to support HDMI 1.4 without fully supporting the maximum specification. Even if your GPU supports it's a while before anything else does.

Hum yes you're right. I've had a look at the spec sheets of some projectors I'm currently looking at and they're supporting 1080p/60 side by side 3D. If ATI is doing frame sequential it'd be the superior approach (and I'm all for it!) but with those devices I'd be out of luck regardless. So unless the HDMI guys stop sticking their heads between their buttcheeks and release a new spec we're probably not seing any kind of improvement here.
Maybe if 4K is getting some traction, things will improve.
