Need some 27" monitor help!

Thread Starter
hey guys

im upgrading to 2 27" monitors for my pc,

I wanted to know what the best choice is for quality and features?

Im in the UK and budget as around £900 but the lower the better, i dont want to compromise to much on quality but dont really want to blow all my money.

I was considering dell ultrasharps but thought these cheaper unknown brand names might be a good choice due to the panel sharing?

Thanks for any help and tips, i want to get this right!

(p.s. these will be used for video, gaming, all the normal heavy use stuff)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-273E3LHSB-E-line-Monitor-SmartResponse/dp/B0051AUYPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352665447&sr=8-1

They're way less than your budget, so you could obviously get something better for 900£ biggrin.gif But I'm using one of these. If you're just looking for a standard full HD 27" LED monitor, this should do very well. I'm very happy that I got this. It's even 37% off right now!

How about yamasaki catleap?

I know there are few flaws but its cheap.

Other than that dell ultrasharp will be your best bet.

I was seriously considering these as they use the same displays as the apple cine displays?

What are the down sides/flaws?

The ultrasharps are around £200 more but not sure if they are worth that?

Sometimes dead pixels and backlight bleeding. They are S-IPS displays with very nice colors.

I mean if you have the money get the dell ultrasharp because of warranty and stuff.

are those issues as simple to fix as just sending them back to the seller?

assuming i get perfect ones, how is the build etc?

Im wondering if it makes more sense to get the dells now as wehn i re sell in 3 years time the brand name of dell will make it easier / worth more on sale

Yeah, that's what I would have figured you'd reply. You could get three though, and still have 300£ to spare! biggrin.gif

Other than that, I see many people being happy with their Catleaps. There's a thread on OCN only about Catleaps, you might want to browse that and maybe ask the guys in there if you have any questions smile.gif

Yes they provide seller warranty.

Build quality is fine but it has a crappy stand which can easily be changed.

Dell will have more resell value.

Now I'm confused. thinking.gif

EDIT: Take a look here for more info.

i could buy 3 catleaps, but i can see them having poor resale and also dead pixels accepted by the manufacturer seems annoying, i want perfect screens for my money...
