Determining the right keys for me

About to purchase my mechanical keyboard and would like to know which keys to get.
I mainly game and do a little typing (hardly any) for school.
I would like the keys which feel most similar to my normal g15 keyboard I have right now. Would those be mx browns? thanks

For a switch that feels mostly like a membrane keyboard, is good for gaming and you do little typing, I think the reds would be the way to go. It is a light, linear switch with no feedback, just like membrane keyboards. I tried blacks first but I found them to be a little too stiff for me, so I like the reds better. Though the reds are very light and I tend to get a few mis-clicks when I type with them. But if that is not concern for you, I think the reds would be a solid choice.

If there is a store near you that offers mechanical keyboards, it would be a good idea to go and check out all the different switches to find the one that works for you. What switch you like can be very subjective, I have found.

Do you only get the mis-clicks during typing? Or during normal gaming sessions too?

Ah, I should have been more clear on that. The mis-clicks only happen when I type. Because the actuation force on the reds is very low, it takes very little for them to register the keystroke. I've heard some people say they don't have any problems typing on the reds, so maybe I just have clumsy fingers smile.gif So yeah, they feel perfect for me when I game, no mis-clicks or anything, but when I type I have to correct my typing errors a bit.

But as I said, it is highly subjective, I suggest trying them out at an electronics store if you can.

What kind of games do you play? FPS? Strategy? etc
Logitech launched their first mechanical keyboard. The Logitech G710 which is Brown.

Red/Black = Gaming switches but realistically, it's up to your preference and whichever one you like the most.
Blue = requires less amount of force. good for typing, some dislike it for gaming. I game on it just fine.

a little bit of everything, bf3, LoL, Wow.
Mainly BF3 and LoL though. I'm pretty much deciding between red or browns

I have issues typing on reds, they work really well for gaming. I plan on buying some blues for typing however. Browns might be a better bet than reds, although you're probably going to be satisfied with either.

Yea I'm more tempted to just go with brown, I'm in High School so this keyboard will last me a long time and I will only be doing more typing as time goes by. Plus it's cheaper than the red, always a bonus:)
