CPU/GPU for 2d/3d modeling AutoCAD

I've have been looking into starting a course in 2d/3d modeling for a while now, and I've finally decided to just do it. For that I would need something with a bit more muscle than my current laptop. And I've got some questions regarding that.

The programs we will be using is:
AutoCAD, Inventor, 3D Studio Max, Revit and Photoshop.
Short description of what we will do/make:
Blueprints, 3D-models, drawing development (Not sure if that is the correct translation), rendering and imaging.
It all is supposed to end up as photorealistic presentations and animations which will be well documented.

The computer will be used almost exclusively for that, with the exeption being the internet surfing that comes with it. Everything else will go on the laptop.

CPU.
First of all, would a powerful i7 suffice, or would getting an xeon give me any benefits over the other? Since it will be used as a workstation I've been leaning towards xeon processor, but as I'm not too familiar with the differences would someone be so kind as to help me understand the differences. Some recommendations on what processors are good would also be really helpful. smile.gif

GPU.
On this one I've pretty much decided to go with a Nvidia Quadro card, if anyone got any good suggestions or would like to try to change my mind to go with a normal gaming GPU / AMD card then just go ahead and explain why and we'll see.

I don't have a really small budget to think about, but suggesting a CPU for $2200 is way over what I'd pay. Just try to keep it reasonable.
I will be using two monitors, and I'm not going below 1080p as far as resolution goes.

Looking forward to reading replies on this, I will also try to be as quick with my responses as possible. wink.gif

edit: added the monitor info.

i7 will be fine.

AMD would not perform on par with Nvidia quadro card in modelling and stuff.

After doing a bit more reading on the CPU part, I think I'll go with i7.

But I could still use some help figuring out something fitting for what I will be doing. As I have no idea on what would be enough to give me enough power to do what I want.

What do you guys think about this one: i7-3820?
Also, how about this one for the GPU side, PNY Quadro 2000 1GB.
