Hi there,
I'm planning on purchasing a 27inch IPS soon (either the Yamakasi 2703 or the Crossover 27q to use with my laptop.
I'm not much of a gamer but I do love screen real estate. I have some concerns about purchasing either of these two and I wanted to see if I could get some help.
My laptop specs: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops/NP700Z3A-S01US-specs
My laptop has an HDMI port (and I can also use a VGA dongle). The video card is a AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 1GB DDR5.
Link to my VGA dongle (not sure if this would be an option for these monitors): http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-AA-AV1N12B-US-Chronos-Series/dp/B005YQYL6Y
Questions:
Would I be able to get max resolution (2560X1440) with this setup?
Should I even consider buying any of these korean 27 inch displays with my video card/laptop setup or am I going to run into problems?
If so, can someone please point me in the right direction (i.e. which monitor should I get so I can use on this laptop?)
Note: I read something about monitors having a "by-pass" (having no "ad-boad" on the monitor)...so apparently people were having problems using these monitors on the Macbook Pro that uses the same video card. One website recommended the Shimian Qh270-IPSMS or the WECUBE ST2770W...can anyone confirm if these would work...and if so, which brand is recommended?)
Thank you in advance!
Edit: Can someone tell me if this (http://i.imgur.com/tc7SB.jpg) is a displayport or a mini-vga port. I can't tell because the specs online say displayport but some reviews say it's actually a mini-vga
Edit 2: would using one of these fix the problem? https://ca.startech.com/AV/USB-Video-Adapters/USB-3-to-Displayport-Video-Card-Multi-Monitor-Adapter-2560x1600~USB32DPPRO
