Yeah the alphacool line up are all good I'm getting an XT45 360 myself.

I've had both of those fans, apaches were a little loud and the bitfenix ones were ok just didnt really like the look. I'd put them on a fan controller though.

With a 280 rad you would probably have to cut the drive bays so keep that in mind, and two 240's will be plenty for your loop anyway.

I much prefer the looks and performance of the heatkiller 7970 full cover block with the bad@ss backplate.

130760.jpg

copper version for a bit less $$
130730.jpg

Plus it comes in 1st for lowest delta temp, and 2nd in flowrate, and 1st in looks in my opinion.

firstly, i must say that your avatar is funny and a bit distracting. *sudden desire to have star shaped glasses*
secondly, found this phobya fan(link) which looks like a promising 140 fan but i guess then i'll have to use either a Swiftec 280 QP rad or (if it would fit) Alphacool XT45 280 (doubtful yet hope never dies biggrin.gif )
and for the fans, did you mean to control the bitfenix one or the Apache?

and why 280? to have easy expand-ability for a second card. you know the 23rd is very close (black friday) and the launch of the HD89XX isn't too far either. great chance to snatch another 7950 biggrin.gif
(btw, are there any discounts on Black Friday on water cooling hardware?)

first, i am not the fan of the whole nickel reflective look of it, especially the backplate (will be getting a custom one from Dwood)
second, from my recent struggle with gpu sagging (link made me realize that GPU block wight could be a problem, and thus i found that the koolance block is the lightest at ~680 grams and right below it the alphacool block (v1) at ~760 grams.

I'd put either of them on a fan controller.

I'm not sure if a 280 would fit in the drive bay, 480mm's of rad would cool 2 gpu's nicely anyway to be honest

yeah i guess it is, but this is OCN (there is no such thin as overkill) after all tongue.gif

and for the record, according to PPCS's pics, a 280 fits no problem: (black ice GTS stealth 280)
corsair-wce_17.jpg

but a good question is would a XT45 fit in the top?

also, any aproximate number of needed angle (90 and 45) fittings that would be needed in my loop?

I would bet the XT45 wouldn't fit because of motherboard heatsinks.

If you want to go 280 rad up top I'd probably say the swiftech mcr240qp http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_457_458&products_id=34366

Though the alphacool 240 might be better since it's all copper.

ok thanks, i guess its either the mcr240qp or EX 280 or EX 240 (if i'll be using the Corsair SP120QE, for the 280 i guess most decent ~1000 rpm will do, considering this. could it be good?)

now i only have to figure out which fans exactly to get (for lighting effect i think the NZXT FZ LED fans, for rads either SP120 QE or any other recommendation)

and the loop order (i'll do a scheme and upload ASAP)

edit:
totally forgot of the Magicool slim 280 rad? it is 14fpi and supposed to be the OEM for most rads, is it good?

Next stuff on my list will be clear tubing, red dye, and white led strip. So.. tongue.gif

BTW I'm using the Swiftech MCR240-QP (280rad) for my top rad with the Phobya fans, the one with red LED though.

oh thanks. it is clear now to me now, top 280 and bottom 240. btw, How noisy is that phobya fan? is it bright? do you recommend me going on the non-LED Phobya 140 fan? (link) (if i'll go on white lighting)

any idea of which rad would be the best? XSPC EX280 (probably 19fpi) , Swiftec MCR240-QP (12fpi) or the Magicool 280 rad (14fpi)?

also, could anyone help me with loop layout and order? (since i don't live in the US and shipping+customs isn't cheap i'd like to have as much planning as possible)
it would be very similar to npo717's loop but mine would include the MoBo block. (aiming for the cleanest look tubing wise)

sorry for the crude bump, but i've made a sketch for the loop layout and i'd like to get some feedback on what could be the best and cleanest one:
(behold the amazing MS paint skills)

Green: PSU (for the C70 important)
Blue: radiators (top 280 bottom 240)
Orange: fans
Grey: xspc dual bay res with d5
Purple: blocks (CPU, Maximus V Formula stock block, GPU)
Red: tubing
Yellow: G1/4 connection points

Ver1:

Ver2:

For some reference and to make it a bit more clear, here are two loops that help a lot in visualization: One and Two.

feedback is appreciated smile.gif
