Good, a new engine is good news to me, Source is old and outdated and we need an engine to take advantage of high end PC hardware.

What, why?

Source is an incredibly polished and optimized engine. Even a cruddy P4 machine can run Counter Strike Source decently.
Plus, it looks GORGEOUS when maxed out. The HL2 Cinematic Mod shows the engine's true potential for high-end systems.

I don't even think Half-Life 3 is in development, but on a good note Gabe Newell seems to have lost a lot of weight on this video, which is good for his health.

It may not be a totally new engine value likes to just do updates that's why source is as nice as it is to older systems. I suspect they will release source 2.0 as a massive update to the old engine if they keep compatibly witch would make sense then they can just update the files via steam and roll 2.0 out for all there games. I would not mind seeing some of DX11 features for windows and more Open GL goodness for linux. No mater what they do with the engine source will still be awesome. biggrin.gif

They said in the article its not a update, or even a massive update, its all brand new engine.
