Can I get some help with my sound card.

I don’t know if this would be right sub forum to put this, but is seems the most relevant. If there is a better place, informing me would be wonderful.

I am having problems with my sound card, HT|Omega Claro+.

Anyways, when I went to turn on my computer this morning and the computer was booting up into windows, a very loud static sound came out of the headphones. Being very curious and scared, I went onto YouTube and played a video, lo and behold, the static noise was still very loud and present. I then went to foobar2k and played a song and again there was nothing, but a static noise.

My first instinct was to make sure that everything was plugged in correctly and everything, I even restarted the computer, which didn’t fix the computer. My next course of action was to take out the sound card. Once the card was out and I restarted the computer, all sound worked. Video Games, music, YouTube, it all worked.

My next conclusion was that maybe the driver for the sound card stopped working correctly, so I uninstalled them. Then turned off the computer and reinstalled the sound card into the computer. However, when I went to turn the computer on, it would not want to post. I tried reseating the ram and every other component I have, but it did not help. After failing to get it to run for about an hour, I decided to just take out the sound and see if it would work again and now it works again.

I am completely lost as to why this is occurring. When I shut my computer down for the night yesterday, the sound card worked fine, but now it just does not want to work or let the computer post for that matter. Any help is appreciated.

I know this thread is pretty dang old, but I finally got around to being able to sit down and try to fix my problem. I first tried to uninstall and reinstall the regular drivers, reseated the card into the pci slot, disabling the audio controller in BIOS, and using the Daniel K drivers to no avail.

I still get a horrible screeching sound when trying to use the sound card, but when I use on board all is well and fine.

Ah, yes I was afraid of that, the only thing about the card is that it is something like 4 or 5 years old, discontinued, and second hand. I guess it is time to go buy a new one, there goes my money for water cooling, maybe.
