Painting EVGA "GEFORCE GTX"

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I've got a PC build that I'll be starting some time this week. I'm going with a black and red themed build primarily (though the mobo I have selected currently is the ASRock Z77 Extreme4, which sadly doesn't have a bit of red on it). As most of you know I'm sure, the only real color on the EVGA GTX670 FTW edition is that NVidia lime green. Now the "GTX670" letters appear to be raised a bit from pictures I've seen. I want those raised letters to be red, since they'll show easily through the window of my case.

Any suggestions on the best method to paint those letters? I'm a perfectionist so anything that doesn't look good enough to have come from the factory pretty much won't do for me. I've thought about trying to use a small brush and just being extremely careful but I have a bad feeling about that; also thought about taping everything off below it or something but those would be some very tiny lines to get perfect with the tape.

Ha without even reading your post my two first thoughts were to either hand paint it or tape off the rest of the shroud o.O

Hmmm...have you thought of maybe doing something like a vinyl?

What do you mean exactly? Print onto a clear film and lay over the lime green letters?

I'm thinking I may go with model paint as well. Those model paint brushes can get pretty precise I assume, since they are used on such small objects.

Just joking buddy.

Vinyl sheet and a craft knife maybe?

Haha, I know I know. But having basically everything right down to the hard drives and sleeved cables in red and black, and then a strip of lime green letters right across the front would feel half-expletived to me lol. It would drive me nuts. I think I may give the model paint a shot, and if that doesn't go as planned, look into the vinyl sheet idea if nobody else has ever done this or has any other idea.

Part of me is tempted to just get the Asus model or something, but I prefer the EVGA card because it doesn't allow hot air from the GPU to flow freely out into the case. Decisions decisions...

I'm interested in altering the color of the GTX logo as well. I have a desert sand themed case and this is the only thing throwing off the whole color scheme. I'd like to do something like a vinyl sticker that can easily be removed for warranty and resale reasons. Please post if you find a solution.

dont use a paintbrush, that will leave nasty brush strokes that can be seen.

1. find an airbrush / spraypaint and cover the other areas with masking tape
or
2. get a vinyl / sticker to cover it
