1366 or 2011?

Pretty sure this is the right place to post this.

Anyways... I'm kind of torn between these 2 sockets

To the point, I'm building a new set up mainly for a "hackintosh" set up. I usually do a lot of virtual OS stuff (mostly linux) and I'm pretty sure the xeons would help better with this.
on top of that I do game, but not a lot just here and there. The Boards I'm looking into are the SR-2 with 6 core xeons ofc (because I know you can some what overclock) and gigabytes x79 series with a 3930k.

I know 1366 is pretty much dead, but this build would still last a while I'm sure. (for what i need anyways)

Then you have the 2011 which from what I've read is pointless to get at least in this point in time in my opinion because of haswell around the corner I heard its going to use a new socket?

So ***? I picked a horrible time to upgrade I think lmao..

Any opinions on this? I'm pretty confused I would just wait for haswell, but I kind of can't I need a PC now.

go with 2011, ivy-e is going to use 2011 socket so there is stil room for improvements for it.

Honestly, either will work for you for what you'll be doing.

Haswell-E will be on a different socked but 2011 still has Ivy Bridge-E coming

I vote go with whatever you can get for the best deal.

You need to research the Hackintosh side further... some hardware is much easier to get working.

dunx

P.S. X79 is Skt 2011...

I've been running hackintoshes for a very long time
I've already researched both boards I'll be using, both work 100% as does a lot of my old parts from my last hackintosh build. ;p thank you tho
