Installing Far Cry Not working

So I finally opened Far Cry 1, I actually have 2 as well unopened. But with 3 coming out soon I wanted to play through the first 2. The issue is that it will not install. On the back it says AMD64 so I know this should play on 64bit windows. But in CD 1 the only option is setup32.exe The error I receive is "Run setup32.exe on 32bit Windows, or run setup64.exe on 64bit Windows!" How do I go about doing this? There is no 64bit option in this cd only setup32.exe I also can't activate the code on steam.

What is the error you get on steam, I would consider calling them and seeing if they can sort out the activation issue so you can install the 64bit version of it.

Did farcry come out as a 64bit version though??? The game itself is quite old anyway. You can try running the install as administrator and see if that helps.

Right click the EXE and run in compatibility mode> XP SP2 or SP3

update so installed windows xp Mode Windows Virtual PC from Microsoft seems to be able to install the game. No idea how this all works or where exactly its installing it or how this is effecting my system. All to play a stupid game. I swear all of these manufacturers should allow their stuff to be up on steam and working. I mean since you can still buy it on there you'd figure it would be compatible with everything windows at least.

New update let me install 5 cds doesn't let me play. This is ironic as it's made from crytek. So I have a unopened copy of crysis as well... I'm starting to think this is what people ment by can it run.... ha!

Now that you have it installed on a 32-bit virtual machine, check the instructions in this thread ...

You'll have to find the folder where Far Cry is installed (which would be the program files folder of your VM install but I don't know where that actually is cause I've never installed a VM ... but it's somewhere on your HD ... has to be) and move it to your current windows install folder, along with the other rigamarole listed in that thread.
