XFX HD 7770 DD black edition and Asus 7770 in crossfire?!

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I found an Asus 7770 and i figured since i already have an XFX HD 7770 black edition , putting these two together in cross fire would be awesome....not really! frown.gif

problem is when i play MW2 i get flickering on the screen once in a while...like one of those old tvs when they dont have signal ... but when i go back to desktop its all fine.

My pc specs?:
Sabertooth 990fx
AMD fx-8150 running at 3.9GHZ
ssd,hdd,8gb ram, 600w 80plus psu.

whats the problem here? i used the cross fire bridge to connect the two and they are both secure on the board.
could it be drivers? im using driver genius pro to check for drivers and its not reporting anything ... here is something else i noticed
in driver genius under display adapters..
ASUS 7770

Thanks in advance!

Are both of the cards running at the same clock speeds?

Well I'd suggest testing with MSI AB if they'll both run at the stock clocks of the higher clocked one to be sure..
Then before you do ANYTHING, Backup backup and BACKUP the BIOS' from both cards incase somehow it goes haywire and takes both with it.

It actually increases performance and you get less issues when they're running at the same speed however. OP said it works fine but gets *Flickering* not sure if that's more just a flickering screen, flickering textures or a screen tearing. But I know for certain that there is no benefit in running a single card faster unless you disable crossfire on an everyday basis.

sorry for late reply,
i set both clock speeds the same for both cards
1150 for gpu clock
1250 for memory
cpu is running at 3.9ghz( went back from 4.5ghz)
in game..i dont get flickering anymore..it simply freezes after i get a few kills in game!! keyboard becomes unresponsive...then black screen i can still hear the background sound from the game but my screen is dark...not quite off just dark. only way to get out of this for me is to press the reset button!
uhhhh ***!!

if you're using MSI Afterburner, set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 2 in the config file smile.gif.

You might get some screen tear even after that, I only get it when I start up MSI AB though.
