Might be a bit border line with that but yeah. The system will pull around 425w so with overclock you'll be touching a bit closer the 475w. I'm not saying it's ideal, far from it but the point is it will work without any issue.

Have a look at the MSI Z77A owners thread here for more info and people with the same board as you. You could also have a look at my settings for a 4.5Ghz overclock here. }
I wouldn't attempt it without a decent aftermarket cooler though.

Yeah,

THe mugan 2 isn't great anymore to be honest especially with the ivybridge, You could get 4Ghz but I'm not 100% on 4.5Ghz, that might be pushing it a bit. What are your onload temps at stock?

hey comps smile.gif
dont start bite me right away ok ..lol

i have a mugen 2, and a 3770k,
before delid, i could go up to 4.3-4.4ghz,
and i had a real hot chip compared to others..
4.5ghz and running prime was a no go, hit 100+C in a short time

of course theres better coolers out there nowadays, i like the new phantek alot,
does a good job, even with ivy, but it cost alot more then my mugen 2,
but like i said, they dont all run hot hot hot..
i see peeps use watercoolers like H100, or on air noctua nh-d14 and such and it still cant oc high because of temps..

its not all about the cooler, its also if your lucky buying, and dont have a hothead ivy ..lol

out of here again, dont like the way your avatar turns his head toward me biggrin.gifthumb.gif

I'm not going to bite.... Have I got a rep of biting people now??? That's not good.

As I said though, they aren't great anymore and you've seen that they get hot unless you de-lid. I'm not saying that you won't get 4.5 I'm saying it's very unlikely.

To be honest though 4ghz would be fine, I'd think about 4.2ghz at a push.

nah, all good, its just your avatar haha thumb.gif

yea, most ivy's would do 4.2-4.3ghz with a decent cooler i think, temp wise that is..
which is still a nice boost over stock..
