ok i think know that i need a soundcard as im using onboard,

heres the plan: Xonar STX to Essence One to (amp1=highs/mids) (amp2=Subs)

do i need the essence one?! is it worth adding it in or is it an extra stage thats not worth it?!

bare in mind im only using a 2.2setup (2 highs/2subs)

ref
this sound card

essence one

cheers guys,tongue.gif:thumb:

I think that is going a little far for your sound setup to be honest, in addition to that the onboard sound isn't that bad anymore. They used to be really shocking but now they are passable.

Are you planning on upgrading your speaker setup anytime soon? I.E going with a 5.1 setup or something?

nope i have no interest in 5.1/7.1 (5.2 in my case) so no.

i do have some high end equipment and was wondering if the sound card could make a difference?!

Xonar Essence STX - £140 Overkill by around £100 for your setup.

Xonar Essence One - £340.... Really???

Dude, putting that amount of money on a sound card with a 2.2 setup is insane.

the speakers are Bowers and wilkins Dm601 S3 and the subwoofers are Both REL (insert name here) its not just a standard 2.2 setup. the b&ws are both biwiredto a marantz amp and the rels run off a pioneer amp.

i take my music seriously,

every other soundcard i see is 5.1 this and dolby bs that, i just want a stereo sound card not 8channels 2, and then 1 for my headphones.

Listen to me now, forget Essence One, get STX, sell the speakers you got now, and get Focal CMS 40 or Adam A5X, thank me later.

I'd Get the Xonar Essence STX, that is if your speakers and/or headphones are decent enough to warrant it, and if you dont mind spending the money.

how much money have you put into your 2.2 setup? that might give us a general idea of their quality.

What do you need 2 subwoofers for? Why not just get speakers that have nice woofers in the first place? Bass is hard to locate.
