GTX480 VRam cooling.

Thread Starter
I am in the process of hunting around for a good GPU cooler to quieten down my Evga gtx480. None of the its seem to include anything to cool the ram. The factory heatsink shroud it stuck onto the ram and works as a heatsink, can I leave this on with an aftermarket cooler or can someone point me in the right direction to get heastinks? any ideas/help would be appreciated!!

If I was in the market for an aftermarket cooler for my gtx480, it'd be this one:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118066

Looks like this cooler has a pcb heatsink for the ram chips and VRMs that look kind of like the stock gtx 480s one. So I think it might be ok to use the stock cooler for the memory chips.

But this Zalman cooler looks sweet imo. I like the green.biggrin.gif

I have a GTX 480, and let me tell you, it's fine with only the stock plastic covering on the graphics card. Use "The mod" and leave the heatsink and you should be fine.

EDIT: If you buy one of the coolers above, could you tell me about its performance?

I had a GTX 480 with the Accelero Xtreme Plus 2, it dropped my temps down very low to 57c on load and 40c on idle.

Overall great cooler and very quiet id recommend it.
