Raghu 78- I bought the radeon hd 7770 made by HIS - hihgtech digital,it was giving me all sorts of problems wouldnt run half my games including my favirot FSX, it had major issues overclocking as well and I hate to say it but my 6570s get better performance that that 7770 did! So i did the only logical thing I can think of and returned it to microcenter.Iam pretty sure a 7970 wouldnt have those kind of issues but u never know,u know?thumb.gif

I figured instead of paying 400 dollars for a 7970 i can get 2 6970s for around 350 dollars and have a decent rig,maybe even 6870s?

Lol wait up

You're matching a 7770 against a 6950... You realise that the 7770 is in the same range as the 5770, they are entry level cards. To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if the 7770 was a 5770 rebranded like they did with the 6770

Dude, seriously, if you're matching up with that then go get a 7970 GHZ edition, it'll outperform all other cards.

7770 is more like a 6850 than a 5770. It's a little bit less powerful than a 6850, actually, but not by much.

And the bold statement is not true.
I've gone thru two of them, and both wouldnt go past 1100 core (and they also whined, mind you). And since they are now voltage locked, there is no way to push them if you get a bad one.

My new GTX 670 FTW at stock (1000 MHZ core) beat my now sold XFX HD 7970 DD (at 1050 MHZ core) by 2 frames in heaven benchmark.

HD 7970 Ghz is the fastest card. period. the GTX 680 is not even a competition. so forget comparing GTX 670. You might be talking with older drivers. here is the latest review

Get a HD 7950 and overclock it. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. HD 7950 (1.1 Ghz) matches HD 7970 Ghz( 1.05 Ghz) and is faster than HD 6970 CF in the most demanding DX11 games like BF3, Crysis 2, Batman AC. A single GPU always is the best choice for the most consistent performance and best experience. speak to users like bruennis and psyside who have HD 7950

here is a comparison of MOH Warfighter which uses the FrostBite 2 engine used in BF3

I OWN them. What i'm telling you is based on my personal experience.

My HD 7970 @ 1050 MHZ core 1400 Memory using 12.11 is 2 frames slower than my GTX 670 at STOCK in heaven, and 5 frames slower when OCed to 1200.

7970s are also VOLTAGE LOCKED on a hardware limit, which is bull**** if you ask me. There are no modded bios to fix this issue.

I'm sorry mate but you're actually wrong, it's well known with the 12.11 drivers the 6970 GHZ edition is actually noticeably faster than the GTX 680 in gaming. The heaven benchmark is biased towards the nvidia GPU.

If you look at gaming benchmarks the 7970 is the better card.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/618?vs=555

That's on the 12.10 (not the new performance enhancing ones) drivers and in a lot of the benchmarks it's quicker. Ergo, there is no chance that a 670 even overclocked will beat a 7970 ghz edition. Sorry frown.gif

Ugh
Sec, i'll post some heaven scores.

In my case my overclocked 670 beat my overclocked 7970.

EDIT : Here's my 7970s and my friends' 7950 xfired at 1050/1400 using 12.11

EDIT 2 :
Here are the results for my single 670 FTW

If you re-read it, I pointed out that the heaven benchmark is biased towards the Nvidia GPU. Gaming wise the 7970 is the better card.

I'm really trying to be nice here, putting it bluntly however these cards have been tested by people who know more about GPU's than you or I ever will. I've given you definitive benchmarks proving that a GTX 670 will NOT beat a 7970 GHZ in gaming.
