Fry's will Price match the Cpu!

Fry's will only match the price if there happens to be a Microcenter in the same state. I called the Fry's in Renton, Washington, which is about 50 miles away from my house and told them I was looking at a microcenter online ad for the i7 2700k for $220 and asked if they would price match.
Then she apparently looked to see if microcenter was on their qualified list. She came back on and said "sure we will match it, just print out a copy of the ad and bring it with you"
Then I asked to make sure the store had one in stock just to be safe, which they did, so I drove for 40 minutes, missing the second half of MNF. When I got to the store, they said that they could NOT price match the ad because it was in store only (no shipping) and there wasn't a microcenter locally.

I'm still pretty heated mad.gif

I ended up getting it for $301.11

I'm hoping that I find it somewhere cheaper on cyber Monday, then I will return the cpu to frys for a refund, and tell them I would rather spend my $$ elsewhere. I'm pisses because I was very specific on the phone about the microcenter ad and the processor and was told I was good to go.

As far As Fry's goes it seems it depends on the store.. some are having success some are not..

Kinda hit or miss..

Also putting up a fuss with the manager has helped people to.

Oh I put up a bit of fuss.
I'm pretty dis-satisfied

They have lost a customer in me.
driving almost 100 miles to save $120 dollars is ok, doing it for $30 is stupid. after gas and my time it ended up costing me more than the $330 that newegg has it for

By any chance, has anyone been able to price match at the Fry's at the City of Industry, CA or the Best Buy near it?
Thanks.

can you people reply back with batches (first 5 letters is OK) you received from your local MC/Fry's stores? the highest achievable (stable!) OC would help too smile.gif

something like this would be helpful smile.gif
MC NJ-Paterson, 3770K, batch# 3226C836, 4.8GHz @ 1.40v

I am trying to figure out what batches are now on sale and where hehe. some people reported getting batches from production weeks up to 33 (from various stores) and my local MC seems to sell some old week 26 still (a few weeks behind other stores) ...

First chip I got was "3224B167" ...... which I returned and got a different one that I forgot to take a picture of.

Philadelphia, PA
didn't overclock it, but temps at idle and load at default were very high!

How do you decode those numbers?

How do you decode those numbers?

that was supposedly an OK batch ... used to have one of those and it allowed me to run 5.0GHz @ 1.50V vcore at first, however it degraded severely later on (faulty motherboard, long story) ...

decoding is very easy:
first digit/letter stands for plant of manufacture (3= "Costa Rica", L="Malaysia")
second digit is a production year, e.g. 1=2011, 2=2012
3rd & 4th digits are production week, e.g. 24 means 24th week of production year
the rest is the lot, e.g. B167 or whatever.
