LIAN LI PC-A71F vs 800D

Thread Starter
Hey everybody,

Was just wondering if anyone wanted to lend me some thoughts about a choice I'm making on my next build.

Corsair 800D
LIAN LI PC-A71F

Considerations:

1. CPU will be cooled with an H100 that I would like to mount somewhere. I know the 800D can handle that easily, but I can't figure out if the Lian Li case could mount a 240mm rad on its front without airflow problems.
2. I have 3 hard drives, 2 5.25" drives, and need room for an additional SSD

I'm also considering the 650D and the Fractal Design Define XL

Well that's all for now.

The 800D is ALL the case you'll need and then some. The 650D will also satisfy your requirements while being cheaper, but it'll be less room to expand later.

I'd save some cash and get a 650D unless you're planning on doing a custom loop soon and/or you want a big, sexy case.

try corsair 550D if you are going to use H100 and no complete WC setup else 800D is the best bet and as far the Lian-Li and Define XL goes they look way to much crowdy well check that image this guy is using 550D with H100 also GTX 690

You would have some trouble with mounting the H100 on the front of the Lian Li because it comes with 140mm fans in the front. The H100 uses two 120mm fans, so it wouldn't be a direct fit.

You don't even need a full tower to fit what you want - I have way more in significantly smaller. If I can fit an RX240 in the front of a PC-8FIR, you can definitely fit a little H100 in the A71F. Use a 140mm to 120mm adapter and mount the radiator to the upper-most fan - get creative and not a cookie cutter corsair.

What if I switched to an H80i and mounted it to the top PSU mount of the Lian Li?

That could work, but the top area is a hard drive bay. You'd be better off putting the H80 in the standard exhaust fan position right near the I/O ports.

Between the four cases you listed, if you have the H100 already then I recommend getting the 650D, or maybe the PC-A71F with a spare top panel sold at Performance-pcs. The 800D is just a waste of money; build quality is very disappointing for that price, airflow is terrible, and even its water cooling support leaves a bit to be desired (limited to only one large internal rad). The Xigmatek Elysium and NZXT Switch 810 blow the 800D away. However you might want to check out the new Lian-Li PC-A75X and PC-A76X, which actually have top fan mounts.

Wow, I didn't see the A-76X. That case meets my needs perfectly. Problem solved

550D is pretty ugly. Just a box. 650D for the win.
The 550D's front I/O looks like junk.
