That is why I posted this....good info. Thanks guys. I kind of wanted to get a AM3+ mobo so I could upgrade the processor at a later date. If I get a Phenom II x4 965, what is a good mobo that will allow for future upgrades to 6 or 8 core processors if needed?

Yes, Alderonn....please feel free to suggest a build. Here are my goals:

  • keep everything under $600
  • allow for easy upgrade on better processor in future
  • allow for overclocking (I'm somewhat of a noob in this area)


What I need in my system:
Monitor, Windows 7, keyboard and mouse, GPU, CPU, Mobo, PSU, ram. I would also like a new flashy case if it can fit within the budget....

I can probably go up to $650 for everything if need be. I realize I may be askingg the impossible but welcome any and all of you to work your magic with components.

BTW, I didn't buy the games earlier, they came free with the GPU....

Yes, thats a good build... If I had to pick between that and the one I posted it would be a tough pick. I used a couple of the 1155 pentiums over the summer and was very happy with them. About once every 2-3 weeks Newegg will do a Shellshocker on a MoBo and CPU combo, Today it happens to be the FM1/MSI combo. But If OP waits until the next time its a Intel 1155 combo that's also a cheap way to go.
