Best DIY Mousepad

Thread Starter
Of all the possible not-intended-for-mousing mousing surfaces out there. Which do you think is best? Only rules are that it shouldn't cost a quarter as much as a proper gaming mousepad.

Obviously paper is right up there but, what else comes to mind that would probably work well?

I was at Staples the other day looking for materials that may be suitable for a makeshift mouse pad, I found that the plastic 1" 3 ring binders may work well. You can cut the plastic to the size you desire, and you technically have two surfaces to work with. I do not know the properties of the plastic though in terms of its resistance to wear. My guess is for $2, its probably not going to last a long time, but its 90% cheaper than most gaming mouse pads are on the market.

The only thing you would need for it is some sort of backing material to keep it from moving, or you could always tape it in place haha.

Well, I just bought a 3' x 2' roll of felt paper and taped it down on my desk. Works okay for now.. Has anyone ever tried using silk for a mousepad? I'm curious to all the possibilities here. So far though, the cat tops the list haha ^^
