Different test settings. It's misleading.

The common sentiment was that it used to be the other way. Recently though, Kyle Bennett was really riding the Kepler train before and during Kepler's launch.

It's only misleading if you don't read it all. I'll give you that the layout is confusing, but it says clearly "Highest Playable Settings" and then later "Apples to Apples". If you don't read and just look at the FPS numbers, sure, you'll raise an eyebrow.

instead of looking at framerate only, look at the settings being used. the 680 and 76970 are able to play most of those smoothly at the highest settings, whereas the other gpus can't, so they drop a bit until they get a "smooth" experience. there are comparisons at the same settings done at the bottom of every page.

Between the HD 7950 BOOST! and the GTX 660ti @ 1920x1080 with the witcher 2 it is difficult to tell which card is actually superior.
While the HD7950 does out pace Average FPS by ~10 (68/58) the Boost assumes an overclock version. The minimum FPS is also much much higher for the GTX 660ti = 30, only 18 for the 6950. I find max FPS irrelevent.

So that smoothness they talk about would simply be Less of an FPS drop for Nvidia, as the drop is still within fluid frames.

So in this case I'd prefer the GTX 660ti over the HD 7950 Boost Edition.
Hell the HD 7850 GHz would be a better card over the HD 7950 in this case as well with only a Min FPS of 22.

AMD why you so weird?

Now if AMD could just understand this about their drivers. For many people, the drivers have been essentially the entire reason why they went Nvidia over AMD. Both have had very close performance for a number of generations now, but still many have claimed and still claim that the AMD drivers were/are crap.

See AMD, just dump some more money into your driver team, unleash the true potential of your hardware and make them run smoothly. You will win over so many. thumb.gif

Yes, it is only misleading if you don't read into it. But that's the issue — you have to read into it, otherwise you are mislead. Mixing and matching like that is problematic.

AMD has snatched both the Overall Performance (for a single GPU) and the Price-to-Performance crowns handily. Methinks Nvidia needs to stop being so greedy. AMD has them beat handily.
