Well the conclusion is pretty biased

High pricing band – Throughout the course of the evaluation, the Radeon HD 7970 traded blows with the GTX 680 and are more or less equals when it comes to the overall game play experience. This is expected given that their pricing is within a few dollars of each other. For those that must have the absolute highest frame rates (even if it makes no difference to the overall game play experience), the Radeon HD 7970 seems to pull ahead of the GTX 680. The GTX 670 brings up the rear in this price band, but ultimately provides a slightly lower game play experience for a lower price.

I mean really?

Their tests shows the 7970 winning with 5-10 more FPS and a minimum fps lead of about the same over all of the games...the only one the 680 wins is the "apples-to-apples" maxed settings for max payne 3 which they even state is "unplayable" for either card.

Moreover they keep the 7950 in a separate category so the 680 and 670 don't get further embarrassed

One-sided contest that pretty much cements the 7970 as the king of single-chip performance.

Very proud of you AMD. Keep it up and you'll always have my hard-earned money thumb.gif

Basically what I took from their work is that the HD series can handle higher resolutions and more AA because of the wider bus, in comparison to their card to card charts..

ie: 7950 vs 660ti
Shows that a wider bus is important because of the better performance of the 7950 with x4AA at 1920x1080.
However if you are OK with only x2AA then the GTX 660ti has better Min FPS and would be the better performer.

Since the 7870 has basically the same number as the 660ti, if you want x2AA at 1920x1080 res then get the HD7870 for the lower cost.

Basically what you are paying for with Nvidia are the technologies, CUDA and PhysX... however for CUDA you'd want a GTX 580.

In any case you could buy any of those cards and be happy if gaming at 1920x1080.

I agree 1000%. The conclusion was extremely biased. Lame

In other news, glad I got a 7950. biggrin.gif

Wow... GTX 680 got smashed. Hope at least 310.54 make the gap slightly lower but I doubt it.
The 10 fps or more lower fps with Sleeping Dogs is due to the low bandwidth and nothing else.
The old faithful.

You can save so more money and find a HD 7970 for as much as a GTX670 and with overclocking match GHz edition easy. GTX680 needs to drop in price ASAP. Its not a $450 any more. Needs to be 380-400 MAX. GTX670 $300-320 and GTX660 Ti $220-240.
