Even being out in Japan I never had issues with the netcode on 64man servers on the US side of the world. On the topic of sound, I personally loved the sound and effects in BF3. Sounded great in 7.1. Everything sounded crisp, good bass, and directional feeling was pretty spot on. So not sure what the issue was in either of these departments.

Protocol with Battlefield 3 is really good. It's the only game with realistic bullet drop and hit box physics. Because both of these are done network side with very unique packets. There is no game on the market that offers realistic bullet handling network side, other then Battlefield 3. Traditional games like COD use client vecs (known as hit boxes) and basic algorithms server side to determine if the bullet has gone through that box to equal a hit. I can't say exactly how Battlefield 3's bullet handling works (I know it uses very unique packets) as I haven't reverse engineered its protocol (don't plan on it, its illegal). Tho I am sure you could find documentation about it on the web somewhere. As for sound im one of those who could care less, as long as I don't get any distortion or interference of any type. I haven't heard of anyone having sound problems with Battlefield 3 so I doubt there is any concern. Of course all three are equally important, but to most of us game physics and how real the game looks is #1 priority. I mean pacman had the worst sound effects ever, but it still was a great game.

Anyone who's actually played Mass Effect games will already know that visuals mean jack-all, it's 95% story/decisions/gameplay.

They can re-use ME2's engine for all I care, just hold everything else to the same standard as previous games (minus ME3's ending, obviously).

Also pretty much the only things that come to my mind when someone says "Frostbyte 2" is this:
> I'm sun/bloom blind
> LENS FLAAAAAAAAARE
> The goggles, they do nothing
> It's so realistic that I can't see anything past all the realism being rubbed into my eyes

So yeah, this news is sounding pretty grim.

This! It would have been better to use cryengine 3. I still don't know why many tend to not use that engine. I never realized why so many hailed Frostbyte 2 engine as being the best game engine there is. BF3 didn't even look that great...

i agreee cryengine looks way better... currently playing ME2 my first foray into the ME universe and im loving it gonna get 1 and 3 when im finished the main story line on this, a game with more than 4 hours playability thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also love how the story line can be changed depending on your actions i nearly always take the bad ass choice smile.gif except when im romancing miranda.... im always good to that girl thumb.gifwink.gif

Dude, sound is awesome in bf3. I love how it makes me feel im in the middle of the actual war. Anything less that a 5.1 surround sound when playing the game is a waste imo.

I only played me1. I loved the story line and at the time decent graphics but lighting and shading was always dissapearing between load screens. Even with my new hardware. Sound seemed to always wanna act like it was coming from somewhere else when the being in front of me is saying something important and then i miss it. Very frustrating. I never beat it cause of that. Got like 90% the way through.

Even with that i would still give the game a high rating.

C3e doesnt do destruction if i remember right. The fb2 engine may not be perfect but i believe it brings the most to the table in a fire fight situation. Especially at the mass that mass effect likes to have ships invade.
