Apart from a short list of genuine bugs, both the gameplay and engine are rock solid in C2. I haven't played Crysis Wars (Crysis 1 Multiplayer) so I can't comment on that, all I know is that it was a lot more like BF3 in terms of huge open worlds and ability to use vehicles. C2 is basically a futuristic version Call of Duty - sandbox maps with vastly better graphics (obviously), insanely more fast-paced gameplay/movement system (e.g. there is a lot of vertical movement since you can jump really high), the ability to go near-invisible and basically zoom around the map really fast, etc.

You could call me a Crysis 2 MP veteran, I've also played a ton of C3 MP Alpha. The game has it's issues, it has it's hackers, but most of the time you can look forward to a fair match.

But let me just warn you that Crysis 2 Multiplayer has one of the most horrendously difficult (and steep) skill curves you will ever see, the difference between a newbie and an experienced player is so HUGE it's not even funny. For example if you put a pro alone against against a team full of newbies/intermediates, he will single-handedly beat their entire team on his own in Team Deathmatch. You can give him exactly the same gear/weapons/perks as everyone else, he'll still DESTROY all of them before they even know what hit them. The skill curve is literally that huge (and rewarding) tongue.gif

Ive played c1 multiplayer and its no where near as good as bf3 mp. But i do like it, somewhat. It doesnt really have longevity. The people that do like it are diehard fans.

BF3 seems a bit dead as of late. Luckily I have Planetside 2 to migrate to if it dies, which I do see happening pretty soon.

Well, Black Ops 2's release might be affecting it. I noticed the population on 360 has gone down quite a bit. Seems just as active as before on PC, though (35k at 9:30AM on the east coast is pretty average).

These past few nights I have only been able to find 5-10 good populated servers that fit my filters (Conquest only, no Metro garbage, 48/64 players) where I usually find a nice list. It's probably a combination of releases: Halo 4, Black Ops 2, MOH. It's also that time of the school semester nearing final exams, so there are a lot of possible factors behind it. thumb.gif I'd hate for it to die off so soon, but if it did, I'd happily move over to Planetside 2, it's awesome. biggrin.gif

FB2 was not built solely upon Dice/EA tech, they licensed tons of different software from other developers to unify it into FB2.
On another note, anyone griping about BF3's netcode should get off of AOL.
On yet another note, BF3 actually looks really good. Sure, it doesn't look as good as CryEngine 3, but Crysis is a terrible game in comparison for multiplayer. So... what's the problem?

So going back to client based registration with no server verification is a good thing? My internet is fine, the registration is fine, that's not the issue. Its the way the netcode was built that's awful, there's no reason to go back in time and use a client sided based netcode. It's silly, we used it back in the early 90's and moved to a server based long time ago. Why is moving backwards a good thing?

Is Crysis terrible in Multiplayer due to its gameplay, or due to its engine?

Not what I'm saying at all. I've rarely had issues with servers on BF3. Rarely. Both BC2 and BF3 have had pretty decent servers. The hit registration is really only bad with the knife, and that has nothing to do with netcode but the poor implementation of the animation for the kill when in range to do so.

Crysis Multiplayer is just not that fun after a while. Few maps, and as far as I know the bullet travel is more similar to COD, which, if you like sniping people across the map with a sub-machinegun because of unrealistic spread/drop, go for it. The engine is pretty, but, if you were to add the scale of BF3 maps to that engine, the graphics quality in some areas will obviously suffer. Much like in FB2's engine.

I doubt it's going anywhere soon. In a couple years (after BF4 and BC3 come along) people are going to look back and see it as the decent game it was, just like they do with every other game in the series. I'm kinda sad that I haven't been able to play it in over a month.

Never got a chance to play Planetside 2, tbh. Been playing a lot of Offensive Combat biggrin.gif
