Windows 8 vs Samba =????

Looking for a little help with this new problem that cropped up. I upgraded my Windows machine to 8 this weekend and noticed this issue. My folding machine is running 12.04 LTS and I decided to run 6.34 client, so I need to fileshare the fah folder to log with HFM on my windows machine. Now the problem is, every time HFM polls the Linux machine from Windows 8, Samba crashes and causes kernel panic. I can literally click update clients in HFM and watch the Linux machine crash on the other side of the room. This did not happen running HFM on Windows 7.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I don't really know how to fix it besides moving back to V7 client and avoiding Samba all together.

- Dropbox on Linux and WIndows machine
- Make link to queue.dat and FAHlog.txt
- Remove "link to part" from file name
- Add to shared folded in Dropbox
- Direct HFM to linked files via Dropbox folder on Windows machine
- Profit?

I didn't think of that, I'll give it a try. Seems like a decent workaround, thanks.
