MW2 was the first to use IW 4.0, an upgraded version of MW1's IW 3.0 engine
Black Ops 1 used a modified version of WaW's IW 3.0 (which is why it looked worse than MW2)
MW3 used the MW3 engine, an upgraded version of the IW 4.0 engine
Black Ops 2 uses the Black Ops 2 engine, an upgrade of the IW 3.0 engine

I hope you do know to get things like DX11 running they changed a lot of the IW 3.0 code and swapped it in with code from the Havok Engine I have the Retail copy and it has the Havok logo on the back of the box. So the base maybe IW 3.0 but a lot of the code was swapped out for the Havok stuff so they could script it better & get better tech as the standard IW engine done support DX11 or true HDR lighting.

Hey guys.
As a Battlefield 3 player with over 800h of gameplay most of it infantry on metro \ bazar.
Would you recommend this game to me?

A bit of FPS history that might help:
Played some BF1942 10 years ago
Next FPS game was Battlefield 3
So i never played any CS, COD or any other FPS.

I am good at BF3, playing the ESL and such.

Thanks!

Same, I havent played a COD game in over a year. Most of the shooters out right now arent keeping my attention more than a week or two.

Hehe,

Can't say. Either you are going to hate it all of the hate what you have or you are going to like it. That's really hard to foresee.
Tempo and gameplay is totally different what you have experienced in battlefield. Good thing is that you liked those small city maps, that's all what you are going to play in the BO2 and maps are really small even if compared to battlefield smallest maps.

I'd say that go for it, because you haven't play other CODs or not even lots of different shooters, so this is something new and different for you.

Edit: Check some PC gameplay videos on youtube. You get some idea what to expect.

I love both engines, and play all those games, but to me BO looks better.......

Yeah BO2 is going to look better because as already stated it can utilize DX11.

As for the other bit, people dont dog valve because they actually put out good quality titles. As with COD its pretty much been /copy /pasta for the last couple years...it starts to take its tole eventually.

I picked this game up yesterday after work after reading this thread all day biggrin.gif I love the game so far! I played about and hour of MP and 2 hrs of campaign, and for a COD fan, its awesome. Feels the same as always, but the graphics are way better in my opinion than the last few games. The new perk/loadout system is sweet, and I love the new kill streaks.

For a series that releases a new game every year, I think they added/updated as much as they could. Anyone who comes in here and straight up says this game sucks is a COD hating troll, plain and simple

You are correct and all the stuff they have put in to this is amazing technically they have made 3 games in one and it still fun to play.

Black Ops II doesn't utilize any noticeable DX11 visual effects. Neither does Battlefield 3, or even Metro 2033 really. It's depressing how the term DX11 is thrown around so often; all of these visuals can be done in DX9. The first true DX11 game will probably be Crysis 3.

3 games in one? Absurd. SP and MP is expected to be in shooters like this, and MP isn't much different than before nor is the SP really long. Two games in one is a bit more understandable, if Zombie mode is as big as they promised.

People have different opinions you know, but it's true that people shouldn't come in here and undermine the quality/effort put into the game without having played it first. So I'll get back to you on that, hopefully I can play it at a friend's house since I won't waste money on this game.
