i have a Motorola SBG6580. it's an all-in-one. i mainly got it for the SPoF. but it goes strong. i can go to a neighbor's apt and still pick up a strong signal. want to nominate it for a write-in.

Probably biased because I own one, but I put forward the; TP-Link TL-WR1043ND. Despite the obscure name and brand, it is a great budget contender for a simple routing device. It looks great, is power and best of all, support DD-WRT. It has all the features that its brethren have , but at half the price.

I second this. I also have one and let me tell you this thing rocks, I can game on the computer whilst the kids streem netflix in the living room and the wife skypes in the bedroom and I let my nextdoor neighbor leech off me too and not one slow down or hicup in over 2 years, and my neighbor says that he has also not had a problem yet.

On onother note I have had 2 linksys routers and they have both been horrible. Could not pick up signal in a room right next to it and dropped connections for no reason, and at the time it was the best one they had to offer.

After the whole debacle with Cisco's forced firmware issue I'm staying away from them for a while. My Asus RT-N66U works great and I even get good reception three floors below my apartment.

I haven't had a SOHO router for a couple years, but the dlink DIR-825 and 855 I had ran like champs. Never had one issue. They ran strong and had awesome signal strength.

If you can buy something that accepts DD-WRT, that would be a nice plus.
