ATI HD5850 forcing lower resolution on 32" Samsung UA32EH6030

Hi,

Just bought a new 32" Samsung UA32EH6030 3D LED TV. When I connected it to my PC (HD5850) it forced the resolution 1680x1050.
I can change the resolution to 1920x1080 but the graphics and text do not look crisp then. I tried playing with scaling in CCC but it did not help.

Display/picture size on TV settings is set to 16:9. I tried other options but it did not help.

I had similar problem with my previous 24" monitor. Setting display to unscaled on it, made this crisper and HD with full resoultion of
1920x1080.

I tried every option, but could not figure out the root cause. Any idea guys about the solution?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

It doesn't work to just set the display resolution by right clicking the desktop > Screen Resolution?

Perhaps the TV is set to 1650x1080 thereby not letting the card know it has a different option?
Also, perhaps the cable you are using is not able to support 120hz at 1080p. I don't know much about this but I know some cables can't do it.

Just some ideas to toss out there to weed out the "silly" solutions before people tell you to wipe/reinstall video drivers.

Well I can change the resolution either from Windows or from catalyst software. I can set it to max 1920x1080. But as I mentioned if I set resolution bigger than 1680x1050, picture and text losses it's crispness.

If I select anything like 1080p in the hdtv section, picture and text lose its crispness.

This happened on my bro's computer after trying hd4850. He has a Sony Bravia and a 23" samsung led monitor. Funny it happened on a new card. I can't remember but I think it was solved with a new Catalyst version and hooking tv and monitor at the same time so card understood which output had tv.

PS: The monitor was locked to 1680x1050 but it had Overdrive so it wasn't stretched, it was like a window in the middle of the screen. When I selected 1080p it would stretch so it was blurry. This can also be an EDID problem, the card may be thinking the monitor as 1650x1050 max res.

CCC does show the maximum reported resolution as 1920x1080 with max refresh rate of 75Hz. It's just that it looses crispness if I change the resolution. I had same problem with my old 24" AOC monitor. I solved it by changing the display mode to "Unscaled" on monitor. Triede different modes on Samsung TV but it did not solve the issue.

Tried to force EDID 1080p@60 without success.
