Question on overclocking Intel I5 3570K

Thread Starter
How much can I overclock an I5 3570k without increasing voltage? I'm looking to increase it to 3.9 Ghz to 4.0 Ghz.

I'm new to the overclocking scene, this will be my 2nd build in the past 3 years and I've always been a little nervous and ignorant when it comes to overclocking. And how much of an increased performance will I see with the stated overclock?

Thanks in advance.

Um... Yeah, it will boost to 3.8 so you should be able to do 4ghz on stock volts... As for a performance increase from 3.9 - 4. None that you will notice, I doubt it'll actually be noticeable on benchmarks as well

EDIT - I miss read, you mean from stock clocks to 3.9 or 4ghz, A little bit on that.

Most 3570k easily hit 4.0 (even 4.2) with stock voltage unless you have very bad chip. You would probably need to pump more voltage when you intend to push it more than 4.3. Overclocking wouldn't harm your processor if you give the right voltage. wink.gif
