OCN is now ranked #4 - Page 4

discussed some of this on PM.. I see now the available mem in the original SS's is more than CPU-Z shows.. as well as a few other 'quirks'. Im not certain I could produce results that drastically different with the same CPU/RAM/FSB... very strange indeed.

Real Memory shows 133656576
CPU-Z shows 128MB
128MB in bytes gives 128*1024*1024 = 134217728

Less than 6mb difference, some is reserved for page file usage. Seems ok to me in that regard.

The issue here is the timings.

In the Submitted score, the initial loop is 1.493 and the average loop time is ~4.76
In the HWBot picture folders (i.e. a score that Turrican uploaded), the initial loop is 1.773 and the average time is ~4.86

By rights, the picture folder time should be slower. But it's not.

Could potentially mean photoshop, or manipulating the benchmark. Either prepping the memory before hand and releasing it to the program (a little sophisticated) or actually telling the benchmark when to stop (injecting assembly commands at the right time, making the final loop shorter).

There are know tweaks for both initial loop time and final loop.. I can create both lower/higher initial loop time and faster final final loop.

I just cannot see how, as you pointed out -  ~4.76s  and ~4.86s    .. those two results came from same platform with same settings and only tweaks were to blame for the difference. I mean, I know Pi with 478skt and older.. you can shave quite a bit with standard tweaks such as CW. What I cannot fathom though, is how I would go about producing 2x results so close in time, with loop average so drastically different. When I cut 1s off my loops.. the whole time is substantially faster..

**and i was referring to available memory @ 195xxxxxxxxx ... I get around 133-135xxxxxxxx with 1x 128MB stick installed and system fully prepped.. not saying its a red-flag, just odd that CPU-Z shows only 128MB, yet hardware setup is with more obviously. Only way I can get 50-70MB's more available.. over the amount actually installed is with RAM drive.

I've not heard of tweaks shaving time off initial/final loops, beyond CDT/Waza and a stripped OS. Something you've shared in the private section?

No. I have not.

They are 2x separate tweaks though.. one for initial and one for final. I will post a thread in the private section for discussion.

**thread linked below.
