750 watts enough to run 2 6870s in crossfire? or 6970s x 2 ? - Page 3

Right, lets finish this convo about PSU's

The GX750 is a mid range PSU, capable of SLi GTX 580's and Xfire 6970's without any issue what so ever... Well, the 580's might be pushing it on furmark but day to day won't be an issue. As for the newer GPU's, it will handle all of them in Xfire or SLi.

As GPU's progress their power usage goes DOWN, Not up.

not exactly true:D the power consumption does go down as you go smaller in the fab, but they also clock it higher so it uses the same power as the previous generation flagship product. so the net change is actually very little in terms of power consumption.

Ok,

Well, 10/10 for bumping a dead thread. Now to prove my point

GTX580 - 451w
GTX680 - 333w
GTX570 - 412w
GTX670 - 297w
HD6970 - 261w
HD7970 - 289w

So with the exception of the AMD cards which still use much less than the GTX's, the power consumption has gone down. Incidently the clocks don't use much juice either way. Those are all OCCT on load marks so.
