If so you did spent a lot of money of them. If that is indeed the case ? Towards what purpose ?

Please tell me you are just working in a Firma that sells computer parts and you just had at hand various hardware to play with.
Which i find hard to believe since i see there two mars video cards.

Do let me know how come you have so much hardware at hand. If that is just a hobby you sure did spent a lot of dough.

Oh my god.
How long does it take to build a PC ???
Just order all the stuff and assemble all toghter andbe done with it.
All those pages i saw, which i enjoyed i must say, lead me to believe that your actually playing with components, rather than wanting to be done with the build and enjoy the pc once its done.
Or perhaps you dont have time to build it in one go, waiting for components, doing proper testing, etc.
Because i must say when i saw the a few months ago a review on youtube on the big case you have, the dual case i mean, i thought you had allready a working pc.
Why do i have the feeling that one the pc is up and runnning your gonna sell it, and with the money your gonna start playing with some new case lab cases, new hardware, building the next pc etc
Just wanting to say i get the feeling, and thats not a bad thing, that you enjoy more building the pc than you actually will enjoy in the end using the pc, or is that not so ?
smile.gif
Thats why i want to build me a desktop. THe joy of fitting all togther and making it all ork togther with various components one can buy, its like a custom made diablo III character, where each player has its own version of the character with different items equipped.
Let us know when your gonna be done with project thief

The only way to answer your question about your build is for you to tell us what you're going to do with it smile.gif I really wouldn't recommend a 64 core opteron rig unless you're doing something that really requires multiple cores.

As for my build. Yes it's slow. Yes it's operational. Why haven't I finished it yet? Partly because I need the board and cpu from my cpu water block review test rig and that review is on going for another few months. Partly because I'm still figuring stuff out like the custom reservoirs. Part of the problem is that it's very hard to get work and changes done on your primary rig. Particularly when that primary rig is also used for your day job. Also my reviewing has been taking up a lot of my time. It will get there though, but not by the end of 2012 - I know that for sure.

By the time you finish an initial build...there are probably upgrades to be had. Slow down. Relax. And enjoy having fun with it. I'm about 5 1/2 months into my build. Still loving it.

This is also true. I'm trying to call it done before I upgrade GPUs and CPUs again though lol. The thing about the TX10 is I can't see myself ever changing case. Yeah maybe in 20 years if standards change or whatever but apart from that why would I change it?

I feel the same. I expect my TH10 to hold a myriad of component upgrades over the next 10 years. I'll simply increment my build name with numbers. Look for the BBBB v1.1 in early 2013. thumb.gif

The only reason i would consider a 64 core opeteron rig today is simply because i believe that 64 cores today would be like a single desktop cpu from 5 6 7 years in the future, and i wont have to upgrade the cpu component of the desktop for at least 10 years.
No, im not planning on doing fancy computer computing, just for the sake of long lasting.
I may be totally worng of course.

I tend to buy expensive components because i dont have a lot of money, to spend on freq upgrades that is.

What i want is a rig that will take me through the years.

I play games, watch movies, browse the net, ocassional photoshop, autocad, but nothing fancy.
But i do want all to be butter smooth.
I also want to go AMD gpus side, since a lot of the time i wont be near the PC, and the GPUs will be used for bit coin mining.

From this point of view i tend to believe the money are better invested in the GPU subsystem, and probably a dual quad core 2011 cpus at most, (on that asus dual lga 2011 board) would be more than enough for these needs.
4 of these would probably be a better use of money bit coin mining wise.

If its thousands of dollars per piece, than perhaps not so really
