Is the 8800GTS worth it?

I have been thinking about this all night. Is the 8800GTS worth it, I mean in benchmarks, and in gaming performance. Like is it better then a 7950 GX2 or what not.

Cause I think I might be able to get a GTX, but that would mean a PSU upgrade as well, and I don't have money for that. Could my psu handle a GTX??

It could but I wouldn't recommend getting the GTX, with the GTS able to match it when OC'ed and r600 out soon, it wouldn't make much sense to spend so much on a GPU that will be soon "outclassed"

Yea, but I was thinking like the stream processors, the GTX has 128 while the GTS has 96. And the GTX has 768 mb or ram, while the GTS has 640mb.

So your saying that the GTS, is gonna be crap in a couple months?

I think the GTS isn't gonna be crap!
It will be like the 7800GTX and the 7900GTX, the 7900 one is better, but not for aalloott....
I say , get the GTS, it's still high-end card......

GTS is not bad (you can always overclock), but id wait until Jan when the new ATI cards come out and force Nvidia to lower thier prices.

Okay guys cool.

My other question sorta to follow along with this, is if I managed to get the extra dough to get a GTX, I would probably be getting the e6600 instead of e6300. Would my current power supply be able to handle it all. I mean its SLI certified, so I have 2 PCI-E connectors.

Cause right now, I am just gonna be getting, my mobo, cpu, and ram. Cause I need to sell off my current PC parts to have the money for the G80 card. So that might be mid january, which brings me at the right time to get one of these IMO, with the R600 gonna be out. Prices are gonna be lower.

Haha, no. The GPU is.

Since nVidia is already recalling the GTXs, I'm waiting for ATi's response, and I'm grabbing one of those. I don't know if I'll buy the R600, but I'm getting ATi for sure next time.
