if you got the monitor plugged into the motherboard video sockets that is why, you need to plug it into the video card. redface.gif

Yes you have a right feeling, it seems system resource are still being managed according to iGPU that is why it is showing 7.49GB. Don't own any APU system hence I can't say much about redface.gif . Look into BIOS for an option to set amount of memory shared for discrete GPU. If your BIOS is Award then try pressing Ctrl+F1 in BIOS for hidden menus.

yeah i looked into the bios for a hidden menu and nothing. also there is one section for video settings and its has 2 options IGP and PEG if i select IGP it forces me to use the dvi on the mobo not the video card. i think i might try to update the bios, its current version is 1.4 and the newest is 1.6

*added* updates bios did nothing still same results. so OCD about that .5 missing ram

Are you using different different memory modules, I mean brand, freq. and timing.
Some months ago I had exactly same problem with my system too. It was because of different modules. (When I was using a Adata 1333 with Corsair value series 1333MHz, I was getting those results too.)
Try testing with some other pairs of RAM modules.
Or
See if you can find default memory timings in BIOS. And manually adjust all those memory timings with some increased voltage.
If it is not solving, one of your both module might be faulty.
