your device is not compatible with this version (galaxy nexus)

Im getting the message on EVERY app i try to install. I have tried clearing the market caxhe and my dpibis set to 320. However, i am thinking that the problem may be that i bought the phone from ebay (unlocked), used it in australia with an australian sim card (worked fine) and then i went to spain and ive currently got a spanish sim card inserted because i am here for 3 months. Could this be the problem? A regional problem or something? Its a GSM unlocked galaxy nexus running cna 3.5 (android 4.1.1) with franco kernel (dont think that makes a difference.)

Ive googled it but havent found anything that resolves the problem

Just a silly question but...

have you checked the box to instal programs from unknown sources? It could be that simple.
I know in Taiwan I can not install any payed apps because Google and Taiwan had a fight, so try one of the other (non-play store) app finding programs. Like getjar.

do you have a custom recovery like cwm?

if so, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.

if that doesn't work, wipe data/factory reset.

just for future reference, anytime you go from 1 rom to the next, wipe dalvik cache, even if you flash a rom upgrade, wipe dalvik. dalvik stores all of the most active apps and apps that force themselves into dalvik (google apps) and keeps them there. so when you come into your new rom, and open an app that's already in dalvik cache, there will be data conflicts and the app will not work right.

dalvik cache is on a separate partition from /cache, /system, /data, it doesn't get wiped with performing a factory reset nor does it get overwritten when a rom is flashed (roms typically only overwrite /system and /data). so if you don't utilize the superwipe script, it's always a good idea to wipe /cache and dalvik cache anytime you flash anything.

I just noticed that some apps still give me the message when I try to download them. Most work but there are a few that don't and wiping the dalvik cache doesn't work. Any other ideas what could be wrong? This is after I updated the ROM (clean install, I did a system and cache wipe).

Are you using a Touchwiz or AOSP ROM? Have you tried installing a different ROM other than what you were working with? I got a problem like this before with my VZW Samsung Galaxy S3. I just used a different ROM.

Not sure to be honest (still fairly new to ROMs and kernels). I'm using codename android 3.8 (android 4.1.2). I was using cna 3.5 for a few months and only recently did I get the problem. The other day I updated to 3.8 and now I can download most apps but not all.
I have only tried different ROMs on my old phone and I did not get the issue.

Another thing, slightly off topic, but my keyboard seems to be playing up. I don't like next word prediction so I disabled it in the settings. The problem is that sometimes it doesn't show up but other times it does (even tho it is still disabled). For example at the moment its showing up when I type in the browser but not when I text.

For your keyboard issue, it may be a ROM-related issues. This happens when ROMs are not stabled. I suggest you reverting back to your ROM before as it seems to be stable and not causing you any problems. I hope you have also done a nandroid to backup all previous ROM. This is normal when it comes to ROMs or kernels. Sometimes, the ROM doesn't work to what we would expect it to be. CNA is a TouchWiz ROM.

If you already rooted your phone and started with flashing ROM, you have to know, it's your responsibility to update the ROM whenever a new one comes out. That doesn't mean you have to. Sometimes they have problems, and force you to rollback to a more stable ROM version. Try to restore a nandroid and see if your problem continues.

The problem is tho, is if I restore to my old ROM I can't install any apps at all because it gives me the incompatible message, that's why I tried updating in the first place. Should the problem with the apps be fixed if I install a different ROM? (not cna)
