I need a bit of feedback on my GPU Overclock...I've gotten myself confused

Hey guys, I hope this is the right place for the thread...
Anyway, this is my first overclock on my GPU and I'm just wondering about something
I have the 7850 @stock Core Clock: 870 and stock Memory Clock:1210
The 7970 comes @stock Core Clock: 925 and stock Memory Clock:1375

Well I clocked my stock 7850 speeds up to the stock 7970 speeds. I've ran a few benchmarks it never goes over 60 deg and I am perfectly happy that it is stable. Does this effectively mean that It is as powerful as a 7970 now? I am sceptical of my own statement because I don't think it quite works like that...Little help anyone?

Thanks for help in advance...Cheers!
David

Different memory interface, less memory, less transistors. In short, no.

7850 has 1,024 stream processors and 2.8 billion transistors. 7970 has 4.31billion transistors and 2048 cores. No it's not even close.

If you don't ask questions, you'll never learn. thumb.gif

Don't say that, every one has to start somewhere. Just like hermitmaster said.

We here at OCN are always happy to help thumb.gif

You could buy another 7850 and match or surpass the 7970, but that's just going off topic now... smile.gif

I did think about that...But a 7850 is really a great card and is capable of playing all modern games at great framerates smile.gif I don't really need a second haha, maybe after I've finished up some other parts to my rig....Even then, I'm on an income of $15 hour with work only every now and then...So each new piece of the rig has to be "necessary" in a way, and it feels like it's well earned biggrin.gif More off-topic-ness
