Pre-applied TIM on the H100 or Arctic Silver 5? - Page 4

too little TIM also can cause a bad mount as well as not tightening the bracket and that center hand screw enough

Also potentially getting air bubbles or other deficiencies in the paste can cause poor temps. Making sure you apply the pressure evenly and not removing the sink is the best way to ensure a clean mount.

Thread Starter
Wow, this H100 is absolutely amazing. I went from the hyper 212 EVO on an i5 2500k to the H100 on an i7 3770k and immediately saw a 13 degree Celsius reduction in temps @ stock-idle with just a push config (and stock fans (which seem to be of low quality). I don't know if the Ivy Bridge runs cooler on idle at stock freq, but this 13 degree difference went far beyond my expectations. I can't wait to crank this baby up and see what speeds I can get out of this chip.

Can anyone tell me if the Cougar CF-V12HP PWM fans would be good for this corsair radiator? I have a couple laying around, so I'd rather use them, as opposed to buying new fans if they are any good for rads.

I'm not sure about those fans, but you're really benefit from using 120x38mm fans, or some Gentle Typhoons. They'll have a lot more static pressure than those Cougars, which will mean better cooling.

Yup, they're great for rads. They've got good static pressure (2.2mmH2O) and are quiet. They should be great with the H100.

Tried the stock stuff, then used my MX4, 2 degree drop of re-applied MX4. (this was idle temp, not load) same fans used, same everything, just different TIM.
