this would be a wonderful Christmas present for me... and the problem with this video is that it is not technical enough, how bbc describes the stuff sounds not so spectacular at first listen but if you pay attention its kind of a big deal:thumb:

A picture is worth a thousand words. Also, you can misinterpret text due to certain things like sarcasm being very difficult to detect.

I don't get the hate on IBM for making on die water blocks for closed loop systems. I think this will be great for a consumers.

Why?

1) IBM has basically already gotten out of the consumer market (sold off Lenovo).
2) Consumer margins are much smaller than enterprise margins.
3) IBM already has enterprise CPU (POWER) and does not need Opteron competing.

Where do you think the cutting edge technologies come from? Enterprise, military, and research labs.... They have the upfront capital to develop the technology which trickles down to consumers.

Thank you sir. My thoughts exactly. thumb.gif

Also, I'd like to echo the sentiment of others in this thread. IBM is the big daddy of modern computing and is more responsible for today's digitized world than about anything.

I mean, at this point, hating on IBM is like hating on Bell Labs...

Lol IBM hate, first time hearing this.
Probaly because they don't release "same" thing every year for which kidds get orgasems over it. (iPhone, CoD, probaly Galaxy S, etc.).

IBM isn't so much on news these days nor do they release new (which in today world is same) tech every year. That's why some people think they sux.

Meh, four out of those five were nothing special. That portable lab idea though would revolutionize diagnosis procedures and preventative care. So, all in all, good job IBM.thumb.gif

Water-cooling should be the norm everywhere, it's just so much more efficient than air-cooling. Go IBM! thumb.gif

Except that it adds complexity, reduces servicability, and adds risk.... all things that datacenters wish to avoid.
