What is the best ssd for the money?

Thread Starter
So Ive been wanting to get rid of my 640 WD black HDD and move to a SSD. I currently have a ssd for the os but the wd as storage and its the loudest component in my rig. What brands are the best bang for the buck?? I usually just go with Corsair but I see Kingston HyperX much cheaper and Samsung with a free Assassins creed 3 with purchase.

The samsung 830 is pretty much the rage at the moment,

Had you gone for one about 4 days ago there was a 256gb drive on sale for around $80 lol

Definitely have to agree. the release of the Samsung 840 has dropped the price on an already low priced, fast, and reliable drive.

Wish I had caught that deal. I'm looking to get a ~250gb ssd.

$80!!! bigeyedsmiley.png on sale here its the equivalent of $215 for 256gb . I totally live in the wrong place!

Older OCZ's still have some stability issues however for general gaming and users and SSD you can get cheap.

Sandisk extreme is good. Plextor 830 128 gb was 70 on newegg a few days ago. Kingston hyperx 120 was 60 on amazon gold box deal last month. Keep your eyes open.

If you're interested in Assassin's Creed 3, the Samsung 840 Pro deal ($270) is something to consider.

Otherwise you can't go wrong with a Samsung 830.
