Really bad fps in wow on a 7970 card

Thread Starter
hi guys,

i have just upgraded my pc with a asus 7970 and piledriver 8350. i have installed wow on my new SSD but i am getting really bad fps at 21-38 fps.

it happens in the forest areas and when i have anti aliasing on 8x but i still get bad fps even when i turn it down. my old 5870 card could handle the anti aliasing on 8x and have 51-60 fps.

my card and cpu should blow wow out the water, i have reinstalled the 12.11 7beta drivers but still no luck.

is there a driver i should use other than 12.10 because that has a idle bug?

any help please?

Is the graphics card giving bad performance in any other game?
Are the benchmark scores off compared to similar system's/GPU's?

I haven't benchmark my card yet, can you tell me a good free benchmark software to use please and what score I should get for my 7970 card.

Do you think I should be able to run wow maxed out with my card and CPU ? I thought I would ?
Or do you think it could be drivers, I'm using the 12.11 7beta but I did try the 12.9beta and still got the same.

I can play the secret world almost maxed and the graphics are even better in that game

Benchmarks:- 3DMark11 and/or Heaven 3.0

7970 vs WOW:- Definately.....without breaking a sweat.

It should run WoW maxed out without even stressing the whole system.
Check the 7970 owner's thread for more info, it will be easier for you to get noticed in your question regarding this since the owners thread usually has tons of people subscribed.

I have a 7970 with a Phenom II X6 and you should definitely be able to handle WoW at high end settings. I'm assuming you do have shadows turned off because that makes a HUGE performance difference in WoW especially on Ultra settings. What resolution are you running and did you have shadows enabled on your old card and do you have it enabled now?

WoW is more CPU dependent than GPU dependent as well. Have you had a chance to estimate your FPS in a raid environment?

hi,

i am play at 1080-1920 res and my monitor is 60. i have everything maxed out when i get really bad fps like 21-34 fps. on my old 5870 card i would have shadows on low.
the main thing that seems to make a difference is multisampling if i have it on 8x then i get bad fps, if i have it and 4x the my fos is 38-57 fps.

i just though my cpu are card could handle maxed ? and not happy really lol
