What? People aren't buying $650 cards constantly? What a surprise!

Exactly Namrac.

By the way, for those who say that they don't need a DX10 card yet, guess what? it's not just about being a DX10 card but also the massive power in superiority that currently ANY of the DX10 cards have over the DX9, i.e. Any GeForce 7xxx and below.

I can't wait to get a DX10 card, right now the 8800 GTX is more powerful than two 7900 GTX in SLI, and regarless of directX version, ONE single card is superior to TWO. Now, look beyond the DXx.

Don't believe yet? Here, you can scroll down and compared ANY of the 8800s to any of the 7xxxxs (or even ATI's X1xxxXXX): I'll start with the 8800 GTX vs 7950 GX2: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=474&card2=432

Hell, I'm tired of waiting, I'm getting me an 8800 GTX.

I could and would buy an 8800GTX if I found any need for one. I will just wait but I can see how one with a 6800 GS would want (and need) a far faster card.

Enjoy it Nasgul

I am getting an 8800GTX or 8800GTS using the EVGA step-up. I don't really find that my processor has ever kept me from playing at max settings on a game so I am just going to keep upgrading my GPU until I find different.

I plan to buy a DX10 card next Christmas, maybe next summer. I want the dust to settle and maybe have a second generation of DX10 cards first, because my 7900 GTX is still one of the best cards out there. I think I can survive on it for at least a year.

What I do need is a C2D processor. I'll likely upgrade to an E6600 in about half a year or so, and get another stick of memory maybe just after this Christmas. Quad core is just too expensive for me.

But the DX10 cards can wait, I won't need one for a while.

All the folks that cite they're waiting for DX10 or for a game that uses it are full of :turd: The truth is they're just making excuses because they are either unwilling, or incapable of buying a $600 video card...

..I know I am (unwilling)! That and I am still buying a 1950XTX for its folding horsies. FOLD NVIDIA FANBOYS! [/rant]

Why do you say they are making excuses? All the 8800GTX is going to do better than a high 7xxx is benchmarks, a few FPS, and look a bit better. When DX10 is out it will really blow DX9 & the 7 series out of the water. I don't think the small perks are worth the price tag.

Ok, but for my needs, 2 DX9 cards are already overkill.......so why should I care if 1 DX10 card beats 2 DX9 cards? It's like deciding that a Porsche 911 is too much car for you and then going out and buying a Lamborghini Diablo.

I will buy a DX10 card when they A) drop to around $300, or B) They make a game, only playable in DX10, that I can not live without.

Interesting opinion........I certainly am unwilling to drop $600 on something I have no use for, especially since it's price tag is only because it is the newest tech. It will be obsolete by the end of next year and half the cost you pay for it now, but you enjoy your impulse buy
