AMD vs. Intel (processors)

Thread Starter
Building my first rig and ive been told that Intel surpasses AMD in almost every way. Why should i get an i5 3570k over an FX-8350?

Oh god no...........

In older poorly coded games that like brute strength (dual or single) and medium (quad) coded games the Ivy will walk over the PD on most games and even more so in SLI/CF. But for the future those 8300's looked great on the Frostbite Engine 2 and since more people will eventually use it this bodes well for AMD's future.

If you do any encoding and rendering with minimal gaming the 8350 is the proper choice, Gaming as a main then anything IVY is the better choice. They're close bang for buck but my nod goes to Ivy.

This is as simple as I can make it without adding in more comments about deals and MC specials like 3770k ect.

Better single threaded performance which is most important in gaming, better power consumption by a large degree stock or overclocked, better ability to handle multiple-gpu setups ... off the top of my head.

Piledriver's are good cpu's for certain applications and situations. The gaming performance has improved, and if you happen to do productivity work that can use the "cores/threads" then the Piledriver might be a better option.

Otherwise, the i5 is undoubtedly wiser.

All honesty, if you want a high or mid level processor then Intel is the best choice.

AMD's 8350 top line 8 core processor can barely beat a last generation Intel quad-core with no hyper-threading enabled. Just my 2cents.gif
